I had an 83 4 door years ago, the guy who bought it still has it and it has never had any major issues.

I want to get an old Range Rover and do a swap, either a Isuzu diesel or an LS turbo. Better MPGs with the Isuzu I bet. I have my W123 Mercedes but its not a wagon and I like the Range Rover for dogs and going to Tahoe, I might build a boat and want to tow it, so we'll see. I was scouting them out because I bet they could find a truck with really high miles that I could get cheaper.

It's more than 30 years old. I'd just buy it as low as I could, and prepare to replace seals, gaskets, and lots of other things. But yeah - go for it. Oh - and the lack of safety equipment on a car that size concerns me. And get it checked by your mechanic before you buy it.

Oh I have too many cars as it is, a 240Z that isn't done, I was just passing it on, looked cool.

Rover Classic has had some great stuff recently. They also have an 18,000 mile Loyale at the moment.

That's a solid plan. I bet they could help, they seem to find all the gems.

In the car section too, some crazy stuff like a 505 with 18k original miles, sold long ago of course. I live near SF so they sold tons of these back then, I can probably find a decent one because I don't care about the engine, a tow away is really my goal. Get some new seats and a slight lift. I would die for a 2 door, but I like this blue, I could paint it and call it papa smurf.

I'll bet there is still rust somewhere, but still a pretty good deal!

Maybe, NM is a good place to find one. My Z was pretty rust free in CA but I did find a couple little areas looking hard and corrected it.

Yup, they seem to be fairly abundant in Alaska on CL and such for some reason. So that might be a good sign.

Photos of 240Z!

I don't need a car of course, because of where I live. But I fantasize all the time about what I would get. At this point, for a daily driver, I'd want as much safety as I could get. So I'd probably default to Volvo. But who knows?

Yeah I wasn't really sure what I would find when I looked, I got this one in a guys shed basically. It had 84k miles but we rebuilt the engine and got a 5 speed from a later Z, triple carbs. I have a rear disk kit ready to go in now, my rim was damaged enough that they wouldn't try to fix it, had a wobble above 65mph, and that forced a rethink of the wheels as the tire sizes are all different than the old ones. So it was a setback but in the end I love the new wheels and the Toyo Versado Noir tyres changed the car completely for the better. Yes in the end this is the color for a 240, I thought I might get guys coming up to me, but I have had several women tell me they had a BF with one and there was a gleam in their eye!

I love how it mentions "Leather Seats". That's so cute.

Kinja'd!!!

Like they'd ever put leather seats in a 1982 Subaru.

Other than that, I'd love to have something like this as a winter car. Simple, basic and easy to fix.

And get their numbers - one of those guys has a parts car with your name on it.

When I was a kid I put on a Banana Splits costume and helped open a Datsun dealership. Fell in love with the Z then, and would still love to drive one. Most exciting car I've driven? First gen Boxster.
